Dirty Face
By Shel Silverstein
Summary: A mother ask her child how his face got so dirty. The response he gives her is amazing.
Rating/ Evaluation:  I just loves how this poem captures the life of a young child.  Young children are messy, dirty, and unpredictable, but that is what makes them special. I see that this poem can target children and adults. For the kids, it might suggest new ways to explore the world. For parents, it shows that life is unpredictable, and to just go with the flow.

They would be able to see what life was like for the slaves in the time leading up to the civil war.
