Steph Coccia- Cherry Pie Baby

The Cherry Pie Baby
Authored and illustrated by: Kay Chorao
Summary: Little dog Annie wants a little brother, instead of her ragged baby doll. As she is helping her father serve pies, a little boy dog named Beau stops to buy some. However, he is out of money, and trades his baby dog  brother for the pies. As Annie’s father finds out about the deal, she returns the baby, but gains Beau as a friend.
Evaluation/ Rating: What I like most about this book is the use of animals. The use of animals makes the story so much sweeter. Another factor in this book that I like is that it relates to the mishaps in childhood. For example, wanting a baby brother, making friends, and working with parents. However, the example in the book is a little far out, but I feel that we can get the idea. The pictures are also very colorful and depict what the text is saying very well.

Steph Coccia- First Prayers

First Prayers: A Celebration of Faith and Love
Authored and Illustrated by: Troy Howell
Summary: This book, allows children to pray for things that are in their life. There are prayers about mom, dad, and friends. It is a great way for children to be thankful for what they have.
Evaluation/ Rating: The book has vivid imagery of what the prayer is about. For example, there was a prayer about big and small things, and the picture that depicted the prayer was an elephant and mouse. I feel that it allows to children to put a picture for what they are praying for.

Summary: Bud is taking a nap, and does not notice the bees or butterflies on him. When he wakes up, he jumps and does not feel sleepy anymore.
Image result for bob books set 5 of the gameThis book is great to illustrate life and what could happen in the child’s eye. As I was taking a book walk, I noticed at the end of the book that the purpose was long vowel combination, vowel combination, and a blend of words. In addition to the meaning of the story it allows the child to develop a mastery if verbal skills.
